鯖は買ってみたものの・・・

ついにニューマシンを買ってきました。
こんな奴です。
それにしても、写真が暗い。。。これからの前途を暗示しているよです。。。
とりあえず、OSはLinuxで行くことにして、ディストリビューションを選定。
ターボは個人的なあまり好きではない。(だって、ロゴデザインダサくなですか？)
SuSEとかも考えたけど、ネットに転がっているドキュメント量から考えると、やはりRedHat系がいいのかな・・・。
王道、FadraCoreはアップデートのスパンが短すぎ！
とても付いていけません。
ということで、Vineにしてみました。
MOMOが使えないということだったのですが、非推奨のライブラリも含めてかき集めれば何とかなるらしいことが分かったので、これに決めました。
ものぐさの私としては、FTPでイメージを落としてくるのは嫌だったので、本屋へ寄ってVine3のCDがおまけについた本を買ってきました。
さて、実際のインストール。
インストールは通常通り成功。
でも、Xが立ち上がらない。
グラフィックカード一覧の中に、対象ののボードは存在する。
■VIA K8M800-M2
ただ、VRAMの量が分からない。。。シェアって。。。？
ハードの詳しい友人に聞くと、シェアというのは通常のメモリーからVRAMをかっぱらってくる仕様になっているものらしい。
このK8M800について言うと、32～64の範囲で設定可能らしい。
また、この範囲設定は、BIOSにおいて範囲してが可能。
ということで、今の設定を見るために、BIOSの設定画面を開く。
エーーと、良く分からんが、この辺か・・・。
英語の取り扱い説明書片手にみる。
メッセーンジャーをヤリながら見ていて、友人が先に項目を発見する。
AGP & P2P Bridge Controlのメニューの一番したの項目っと。。。
お、これね！！取り扱い説明書に載ってました。
どれどれ、早速設定を確認する。

BIOSのバージョンを確認すると、Ver6.0
Ver10.0が出てるらしい。。。
マジ！？BIOSアップデートすんの！
めんどくさい。。。
だって、このマシン、FDドライブなんて付いてないし。
USBのフロッピーとドライブなんて持ってきてないし。。。
とりあえず、これは地雷として記憶にとどめて、今出来ることから。。。っと。（オイオイ！）
以降は、とりあえず、取り扱い説明書上でデフォルトとなっている64で設定されているものと考え
ダメなら、32に変えてみればいいやな。。。
いいのか？こんな事で。。。
ディスプレーも型番から、製造会社のURLへ行ったが水平同期、垂直同期の周波数が分からない。
結局、友人が見つけてくれたLaser５のサイト(おー懐かしい。。。)
から、
型番 周波数帯域(Mhz) 水平周波数(Khz) 垂直周波数(hz) 最大解像度
A701G 160 27.0-96 50-160 1600x1200
と判明。
それでもうまく行かないので、情報が揃ったところで、もう一度インすとーーーる！
なんと体力主義なのか。。。

わたしゃは3.0から3.1に上げました。でもほとんど使っていません。デュアルブートなのでどうしてもWinを選択しちゃうので（笑）
鯖ですよね？Ｘ必要ですか？（という突っ込みをしてみる）
最近ディストリビューションはwindows並にＸが簡単に入るものだとばかり思っていましたが、そうではないのもあるんですね。XF86Config(だったかな？）をいじって動かすのもまた楽しいですけど(^^;
とりあえず！ケース良いですね♪
好みです。（PCの写真って結局ケースしかわかんないんだよなあ、と思ったりする今日この頃）

似たようなやつで、Xconfiguratorを使いました。
XF86Configは起動一発目で起動しなかったので、こっち使ってみました。
しかし、不親切。。。
グラボを認識しないので、友人のアドバイスにしたがってフレームバッファで行ってみようと思ってます。
konが起動しなかった時は、時代の流れを感じました・・・。(勉強不足)
