品質管理が厳しく問われますが、問題なのはオープン系の世界には「基準」がないことですね。ホスト系のようにＯＳがしっかりしていて、もはや全く新しい世界を生み出さないものであれば、数値化した管理は有効だと思いますが、目まぐるしく変わるハードウェアやＯＳ、プラットフォーム。ほとんどがはじめてという連続の中で、そもそも品質を追求することに意味があるのかとさえ思います。

ここに入念な設計と試験を経て作られた、その業界での導入実績は相当なパッケージソフトウエアがあります。しかしOSはNT4.0SP6でしか動作しません。果たしてこのソフトウェアを素晴らしい品質と言えるのでしょうか。

私には分かりません・・・

確かにおっしゃるとおりだと思います。
だからこそ、システムの品質というのはシステムを作る側にある程度任されてもいいのかな？という気がしますね。

客先が求める機能や、要求されている期間を考えた際、機能を取るのか、品質を取るのかでもめることが良くあります。
そこの最終判断は、インフォームドコンセントではありませんが、しっかりと説明した上でユーザが決めるべきだと思います。

システムを開発する立場の人間から見てしまうと、品質の低いシステムをリリースする行為は、人のやる気をすり減らします。その部分のマイナス面も含めて、ユーザと戦う姿勢をもつ必要はあるではないでしょうか？

一般的にみれば、すばらしい品質とはいえないと思いますね・・・。
ユーザがそれで満足していればいいと思いますが、NT4などの古いOSしか動かないものは、新規の顧客から見ると制約がかかってしまいますので、多くのユーザにとっては、無理を強いられる結果になるからです。

最終的には、ユーザがいいものであると認識すれば、いい品質になってしまうのですが・・・。
難しい問題です。

システムの品質について考える「技術者」は一体どれほどいるのでしょう。残念ながら私の周りには（うちの連中も含めて）KZOOさんのように深く考えたり、追求するような人は少なく、「技術者」とは言えない連中ばかり・・・もしかしたら私の周辺だけの特異なことなのかもしれませんが、エセ技術者、エセプロフェッショナルが作り出すシステムというのもあるため、システム屋に品質を任せてしまうのは少々危険な気もします。

一方、システム開発には「試験」という工程が存在しています。最終的にはユーザ自身が試験を行い、評価をすることになっているはずですが、現場では必ずしもそうではない、むしろシステム屋任せになっていることが良くあります。

まともに品質を考えないシステム屋とユーザが作り出すシステムの世界。。。

はぁ、なんだか書いてて虚しくなってきました。

あまり世の中では意識されていませんが、プロジェクトチームの要員集めの段階からシステムの品質というのが決まってしまう場合というのがある気がします。

お客さんが出せるお金というのは限られていますし、期間もある程度決められてしまいます。
プロジェクトに関わる色々な要素は等価交換の関係が成り立つというのは良く言われることですが、プロジェクトマネージャーやプロジェクトリーダーがプロジェクトの開始時点でそのプロジェクトに関わる制約を意識し、次に自分が起こすべき判断を冷静に判断すべきなのかもしれません。

その辺がいい優秀なプロマネの一つの条件になってるんでしょうかね。。。

通常の業務系システムの場合、お客さんにチェックをしてもらうことは重要な要素になってくると思います。
現実は、中々、理解してもらえないのが辛いところです。

アジャイル系の開発手法に良く見られる、ユーザと巻き込んだ開発が一つの解決策のような気がします。

こう考えて現実を見ると、確かに虚しくなりますね・・・（ｗ
